All helmets except the Smart | Matt | Shine. These helmets are supplied in a nice cotton protective bag.
All Cromo 2 helmets are equipped with a full leather strap. So no more wear and tear!
The Matt and Shine are equipped with an eco-leather strap but can be fitted with a real leather strap for an additional charge of €75. The Nova helmets are equipped with an eco-leather strap and cannot be fitted with a full leather strap.
All KEP Italia helmet liners are removable. They can be machine washed at 30°C (delicate cycle).
Allow the liner to air dry completely before reinstalling.
Regular cleaning ensures:
- Optimal hygiene
- Long-term freshness
- Maintained comfort
Never wash the outer shell.
Only the official KEP Italia factory in Italy is authorized to replace critical safety components, such as the chin strap.
This is required to preserve:
- CE safety certification
- Warranty validity
- Structural integrity
For the newer KEP Italia Cromo 2.0, you may change:
- Front panels
- Visors
These are designed with an integrated screw system for safe customization. All structural repairs must be handled by the factory.
No.
Due to strict European safety regulations, all chin strap replacements must be performed by the official KEP Italia factory in Italy.
Unauthorized replacement voids:
- Safety certification
- Manufacturer warranty
- Insurance validity
No.
A helmet is certified as personal protective equipment.
Repainting or modifying it invalidates:
- CE certification
- Manufacturer warranty
- Safety compliance
Paint chemicals can weaken the outer shell.
Installing non-original components compromises structural integrity.
For a unique design, order directly through official KEP Italia customization options.
Safety must never be altered after production.
This is strongly discouraged.
A helmet protects the most vital part of the body. Any post-production painting or structural modification voids certification and warranty.
If the helmet is dropped or involved in a fall after repainting:
- No official safety inspection can validate it
- No third party can restore certification
KEP Italia offers fully certified bespoke creations through official production.
Choose customization that preserves safety.
No.
No external company can legally restore or replace the original CE safety certification after modification.
Marketing claims do not override official certification law.
A modified helmet is officially no longer certified for use.
No.
KEP Italia does not provide authorization, materials, or instructions for third-party repainting.
An aftermarket painted helmet:
- Is no longer certified
- Is no longer covered by factory warranty
- May expose the owner to liability in case of injury
Safety certification applies only to factory-produced helmets.
Yes.
On average, a KEP Italia helmet is 100–150 grams lighter (approximately 15–20%) than comparable premium brands.
This results in:
- Reduced neck muscle strain
- Improved long-term comfort
- Better focus during riding
- Enhanced performance consistency
Lower weight contributes directly to riding precision and endurance.
The KEP Italia Cromo 2.0 is officially certified for:
- Horse riding
- Cycling
- E-scooter use
It is not certified as a ski helmet and should not be used for winter sports.
Always verify certification labels inside the helmet.
Yes. All KEP Italia helmets are tested for rotational impact and remain well below the 0.68 BrIC threshold.
This means they comply with internationally recognized scientific criteria for brain injury protection.
Rotational impact testing measures the helmet’s ability to reduce rotational forces transmitted to the brain during an angled fall - one of the primary causes of serious head injury.
By remaining significantly under the 0.68 BrIC value, KEP Italia helmets demonstrate a high level of protection against rotational trauma.
Helmet materials degrade over time, even without visible damage.
KEP Italia recommends replacement after 5 years.
The FEI (International Federation for Equestrian Sports) advises replacement every 3 to 5 years.
You should also replace your helmet immediately after:
- A fall
- A significant impact
- Structural modification
Safety performance cannot be guaranteed beyond these limits.
No.
This is a common and dangerous misconception.
A helmet may look intact externally, while the inner polystyrene shell has cracked internally due to impact. Once compressed, it cannot provide protection again.
After a fall:
- The protective function is compromised
- The helmet must be replaced
KEP Italia offers a complimentary safety inspection service through the factory.
When in doubt, do not continue using the helmet.
Generally, no.
A helmet is personal protective equipment. Its impact history is unknown.
A helmet can appear flawless externally while the inner EPS shell has been compromised.
Important considerations:
- Check the production date (sticker inside the helmet)
- Avoid helmets without a visible label
- The factory considers helmets without identification stickers unsafe
After one impact, protection is lost.
It is safer to purchase a new, entry-level certified helmet than a potentially damaged premium model.
